Baseball Recap: Bronx High School of Science Wolverines vs. Monroe Campus

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Bronx High School of Science was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against Monroe Campus by a score of 8-5. This was a revenge match for Bronx High School of Science, as the team was forced to settle for an 11-3 defeat when these two played last Tuesday.

Ezra Schwartz tossed a big game, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Chase Teichholz was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Shoji Watanabe, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, a stolen base, and a double.

Bronx High School of Science pushed their record up to 4-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs per game. As for Monroe Campus, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Bronx High School of Science will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mott Haven at 4:00 p.m. As for Monroe Campus, they will head out on the road to take on DeWitt Clinton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
