After flying high against Bradford last Thursday, Hilliard came back down to earth. Hilliard fell just short of the Charlton County Indians by a score of 9-7 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Flashes have suffered since February 21st.

Braden Bentley was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Bentley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Cooper, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Cooper has posted since back in February. Anthony Musgrove also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Hilliard's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Charlton County, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilliard will square off against Christ's Church Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Charlton County, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Atkinson County at 6:00 p.m. Charlton County is facing Atkinson County at the right time seeing as Atkinson County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
