Softball Game Preview: Berea Pirates vs. Menifee County Wildcats

The Berea Pirates will take on the Menifee County Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Berea's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Menifee County has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Two weeks ago, Berea got the win against Burgin by a conclusive 18-2. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 15 runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Menifee County brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over Burgin on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Aubrey Golden was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Harper Brown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Menifee County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Berea now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Menifee County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
