Basketball Recap: Caldwell Takes a Loss

Caldwell played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 55-28 loss at the hands of the Dover Crimson Tornadoes. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 557th, while the Crimson Tornadoes are ranked 71st).

Caldwell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Breighlee Moracco, who posted nine points. Moracco is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Makayla Mumaw, who put up nine points.

Caldwell has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Dover, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caldwell has already played their next game (against Magnolia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dover has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Weir.
