Basketball Recap: Malasia Jamison Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Gilbert

Aiken won the last time they faced Gilbert and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets walked away with a 50-39 win over the Gilbert Indians. The Fighting Green Hornets pushed the score to 43-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.

Aiken's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malasia Jamison, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Jamison is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Scotland Staley was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight rebounds.

Aiken smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, Gilbert had strong showings from Blythe Price, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, and Avery Campbell, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Campbell has posted since back in December of 2024.

Aiken's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Gilbert, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing South Aiken the next time they take the court. Aiken will host South Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Gilbert will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
