Football Game Preview: Rancho Cucamonga Cougars vs. Tustin Tillers + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in James Strong III and Elijah Robinson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Rancho Cucamonga Cougars will be playing at home against the Tustin Tillers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Rancho Cucamonga sitting on five straight victories and Tustin on six.

On Thursday, Rancho Cucamonga was able to grind out a solid win over Chino Hills, taking the game 31-24.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rancho Cucamonga to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyree Wilson, who rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, and also picked up 62 receiving yards and one TD. Wilson got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 80 yards. Dillion Sykes also helped out with an impressive 101 receiving yards.

Rancho Cucamonga didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Nate Mensah led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He has become a key player for Rancho Cucamonga: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one interception, but 2-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Tustin strolled past Capistrano Valley with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 35-20. The Tillers pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars cut but never quite recovered from.

Tustin's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Rancho Cucamonga, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Rancho Cucamonga has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tustin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 177.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
