Basketball Recap: Mario Camara Paslar's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Anselm's Abbey over Berman Hebrew Academy

St. Anselm's Abbey and Berman Hebrew Academy squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but St. Anselm's Abbey had to settle for second. They lost to the Berman Hebrew Academy Cougars on the road by a 64-46 margin. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 71-63 loss back in January.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mario Camara Paslar, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Watkins, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 10 points.

Berman Hebrew Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Itai Rozmaryn led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Rozmaryn has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Alex August, who had 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

St. Anselm's Abbey's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Berman Hebrew Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-5 record this season.

St. Anselm's Abbey and Berman Hebrew Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. St. Anselm's Abbey will venture away from home to face off against DC International at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Gavin Moore and Max Leeman. As for Berman Hebrew Academy, they will face off against Sandy Spring Friends at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
