Softball Game Preview: Gorton Wolves vs. Saunders Trades & Tech Blue Devils

Gorton is 0-10 against Saunders Trades & Tech since May of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wolves will look to defend their home field against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Gorton came up short against Barack Obama School for Social Justice on Monday, falling 16-10. Even if the Wolves couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Gorton got a big performance out of Sabrina Cano, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Kiara Rojas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Saunders Trades & Tech took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They never let Gorton get on the board and left with a 15-0 win.

Nailah Searight made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Saunders Trades & Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gorton only posted an OBP of .062.

Gorton's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Saunders Trades & Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
