Lancaster and Essex are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Red Devils will challenge the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Lancaster and Colonial Beach had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Red Devils blew past the Drifters 14-2 on Thursday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Drifters recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Essex had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 12-0 shutout. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Keion Hence, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Essex is undefeated when Hence posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was James (Jay) Jeter, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Essex's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Lancaster couldn't quite finish off Essex in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 3-1. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
