Baseball Recap: Florence Wins Going Away Against San Tan Foothills

Florence not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 26th. They blew past the San Tan Foothills Sabercats 14-0. With that victory, the Gophers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Jagger Navarro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Tanner Gammons was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Stenson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Florence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Tan Foothills only posted an OBP of .176.

Florence's record is now 10-5. As for San Tan Foothills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Florence will venture away from home to face off against Seton Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gophers 3.9, the Sentinels 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for San Tan Foothills, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against ALA - Ironwood at 3:45 p.m.
