Baseball Game Preview: Katahdin Cougars vs. Bangor Christian Patriots

Katahdin hasn't had much luck against Bangor Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Cougars will face off against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Katahdin's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Bangor Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Katahdin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Machias 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since May 21, 2025.

Meanwhile, Bangor Christian made easy work of Hodgdon on Thursday and carried off a 16-6 win. Considering the Patriots have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bangor Christian has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Katahdin, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.

Katahdin might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Bangor Christian in their previous matchup back in June of 2023. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
