Soccer Game Preview: Mankato East vs. Century

The Mankato East Cougars will take on the Century Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

While Mankato East's win against St. Peter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Saturday. Give Mankato East's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Saturday. Century took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeville North. The loss continues a trend for Century in their meetings with Lakeville North: they've now lost six in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Century fell to 3-1-2. As for Mankato East, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Mankato East came out on top in a nail-biter against Century in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
