Basketball Recap: Chloe Zumwalt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Van-Far over North Callaway

Van-Far was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Callaway Thunderbirds. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-46 back in December of 2024.

Van-Far's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Zumwalt, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Zumwalt a new career-high in blocks (three). Khloe Wallace was another key player, putting up seven points.

Among those leading the charge was Lakyn Hartley, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Kymorie Myers, who earned ten points and six boards.

Van-Far's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for North Callaway, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Van-Far will be playing at home against Montgomery County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Callaway, they will take on Winfield in a tournament on Friday.
