Espanola Valley beats Moriarty for their fifth straight win

The Espanola Valley Sundevils had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-0 win over Moriarty at home. The result was nothing new for Espanola Valley, who have now won four contests by 24 points or more so far this season.

Espanola Valley had a senior duo take command as Jack Purdy rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry and Adrick Deleon rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Deleon's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.

Espanola Valley's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 54 points. As for Moriarty, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Espanola Valley will take on Pojoaque Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pojoaque Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Moriarty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Taos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Taos is ranked 60th, while Moriarty is ranked 57th).
