Baseball Game Preview: Northfield Raiders vs. John Marshall Rockets

The Northfield Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the John Marshall Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northfield's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so John Marshall's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Northfield got the win against Owatonna by a conclusive 9-1. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, John Marshall earned a 4-1 victory over Byron on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Gavin Konz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because John Marshall is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Endle, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Konz, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Northfield's record is now 7-4. As for John Marshall, their record now sits at 6-10.

Northfield took their win against John Marshall when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
