Baseball Game Preview: Floydada Whirlwinds vs. Memphis Cyclones

The Floydada Whirlwinds will head out on the road to take on the Memphis Cyclones at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Memphis took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Floydada, who comes in off a win.

Floydada will bounce into Friday's game after beating New Deal, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Floydada walked away with an 8-4 victory over New Deal on Monday. That looming 8-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Whirlwinds yet this season.

Adrian Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Memphis' good fortune finally ran out on March 1st. They came up short against San Jacinto Christian Academy, falling 23-8.
