Softball Game Preview: Oley Valley Lynx vs. Pequea Valley Braves

The Oley Valley Lynx will face off against the Pequea Valley Braves at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Pequea Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Oley Valley, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Oley Valley had just enough and edged out York Suburban 8-6. That's two games straight that the Lynx have won by exactly two runs.

Taylor Schlegel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Cheyenne Walsh was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Walters, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Pequea Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-2 to Eastern Lebanon County. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Oley Valley took their victory against Pequea Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4. Will Oley Valley repeat their success, or does Pequea Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
