Wekiva hasn't had much luck against Apopka recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Wekiva will venture away from home to challenge Apopka at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Wekiva barely beat Evans the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Wekiva put the hurt on Evans with a sharp 16-6 win on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Emil Flaquer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Darelle Martinez, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Enrique Polanco, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Apopka waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Knights.
Connor McAfee looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
At the plate, Nicolas Posluszny and Aiden Rieli did most of the damage at the plate: Posluszny scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Rieli scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Ty Livingston was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Apopka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.
Apopka's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wekiva, their record now sits at 6-12.
Wekiva might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Apopka when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Can Wekiva avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
