Softball Recap: Riverside Wins Going Away Against Honesdale

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Holy Cross, Riverside was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Honesdale Hornets with a sharp 12-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won six in a row.

Riverside let Kate Reynolds and Adi Odzana run wild. Reynolds went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Odzana went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Odzana a new career-high. Raigan Monahan also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Riverside's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Honesdale, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Riverside will host Dunmore at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Honesdale, they will head out to square off against Old Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.29 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
