Baseball Recap: East Valley Triumphs

East Valley proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Fulton Jaguars 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since May 18, 2024.

Kevin Castro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because East Valley is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, East Valley's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Arvizu, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Arvizu has become a key player for the Falcons: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

East Valley's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5. As for Fulton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, East Valley will head out on the road to take on Northridge Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fulton, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Panorama at 2:30 p.m. The Jaguars are facing the Pythons at the right time seeing as the Pythons are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
