Basketball Recap: Pikeville Takes a Loss

Pikeville lost against Blazer back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pikeville Panthers lost to the Blazer Tomcats on the road by a 79-60 margin. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Tomcats are ranked 13th).

Pikeville dropped their record down to 6-6-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Blazer, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pikeville Panthers take on the Shelby Valley Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blazer, they will be playing at home against Boyd County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
