Softball Recap: Hamilton Beats Herkimer for Their Third Straight Win

Hamilton strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Herkimer Magicians.

Ellie Freeth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adriana Catania, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Hamilton's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Herkimer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Hamilton will be playing in front of their home fans against McGraw at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Herkimer, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Lewis at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th.
