Baseball Game Preview: Calais Blue Devils vs. Machias Bulldogs

The Calais Blue Devils will square off against the Machias Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Friday, Calais didn't have quite enough to beat Woodland and fell 4-3. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost eight in a row.

Calais saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah White, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Machias beat Woodland 7-2 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Mickey Fitzsimmons was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Fitzsimmons was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Hennessey, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Calais now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Machias, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Calais couldn't quite get it done against Machias when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
