Recap: Kanab Cowboys vs. Millard Eagles
With a playoff game on the line, the Kanab Cowboys rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 66-42 win. Kanab has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Kanab to victory were Ashlyn Houston and Rylee Little. Houston scored 17 points along with three steals, while Little dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Little hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. Anna Cutler was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine assists.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Bassett, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shayda Carter, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Millard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kanab only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
The victory (which was Kanab's tenth in a row) raised their record to 22-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.9 points. As for Millard, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
Kanab will take on Enterprise at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday. Kanab knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Enterprise likes a good challenge. Millard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
