Baseball Game Preview: Tampa Prep Terrapins vs. Carrollwood Day Patriots

The Tampa Prep Terrapins will challenge the Carrollwood Day Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Tuesday, Tampa Prep came up short against Berkeley Prep and fell 6-1. The Terrapins have struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Tampa Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Brill, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Evan Bohlmann also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Carrollwood Day didn't have quite enough to beat IMG Academy Royal on Tuesday and fell 4-3.

Nick Riedel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Carrollwood Day's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Tampa Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tampa Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Carrollwood Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
