Baseball Game Preview: Freeport Bulldogs vs. Munroe Bobcats

Freeport is on an 11-game streak of home wins, while Munroe is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will welcome the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Freeport made easy work of North Bay Haven Academy and carried off a 16-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Wade Digges and Carson Vogler did most of the damage at the plate: Digges scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Vogler scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Digges a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Niles King III, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Freeport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Munroe). They put the hurt on FAMU DRS with a sharp 23-3 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their one-run performance the game before.

Freeport has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Munroe, their win bumped their record up to 5-16.
