Basketball Recap: Excel Academy Charter Comes Up Short

Excel Academy Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 54-43 to Prospect Hill Academy. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Prospect Hill Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

When it comes to explaining why Excel Academy Charter lost, don't look at Angel Figueroa. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points. That was a full 39.5% of Excel Academy Charter's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Aristizabal, who earned eight points.

Excel Academy Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Prospect Hill Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Excel Academy Charter and Arlington Catholic will round out the year against one another at at 10:00 a.m. on December 27th. As for Prospect Hill Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pioneer Charter School of Science at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025.
