Softball Recap: Saint Ignatius College Prep Takes a Loss

Saint Ignatius College Prep came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-2 to the Marist RedHawks. The Wolfpack have struggled against the RedHawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Saint Ignatius College Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Philbin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Saint Ignatius College Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 16-19. As for Marist, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 22 of their last 23 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-2 record this season.

Saint Ignatius College Prep and Marist are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wolfpack will challenge Lincoln Park at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marist, they will face off against Pontiac at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The RedHawks are on a 25-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Indians a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
