Basketball Recap: Payton Arms' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Garner over Newcastle

If Garner was feeling good fresh off their 61-18 takedown of Throckmorton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Garner Longhorns came up short against the Newcastle Bobcats on Tuesday, falling 46-26. The matchup marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Payton Arms, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards. Arms is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played. Brayden Martinez was another key player, putting up four points and six steals.

Garner's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Newcastle, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Garner wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 98-21 defeat against Perrin-Whitt on the 17th. As for Newcastle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-29 loss against Woodson on the 17th.
