Volleyball Recap: Ryan Comes Up Short

Ryan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Argyle Eagles, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-12, 25-8.

Aaliyah Ybarra paced Ryan's offense, picking up seven kills. Ybarra got some help from Emery Hodge and her nine assists. Finally, Ybarra was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Argyle found their leader in sophomore Makenna Gregory, who had ten digs and two aces. Gregory is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. Alyssa Dickey was another key player, getting ten digs.

Ryan's loss dropped their record down to 17-22. As for Argyle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 25 of their last 26 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ryan is set to face off against their familiar foe Denton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Argyle will square off against rival Birdville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
