Volleyball Recap: Walton Takes Down Ranked Marist

Walton faced Marist in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Raiders won by a set and slipped past the War Eagles 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the War Eagles on Saturday, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Ella Cobb was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 29 digs and five assists. That's the most assists she has posted over her last nine matches.

Despite the defeat, Marist had strong showings from Sawyer Straley, who had 19 digs and one assist, and Addison Lang, who had 11 assists and eight digs. Straley is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The win made it two in a row for Walton and bumps their season record up to 20-6. As for Marist, with the loss, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 30-6.

Walton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Lovett on the 27th. As for Marist, they will challenge St. Pius X Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
