Softball Recap: Eastern Hancock Takes a Loss

Eastern Hancock dropped their record down to 10-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Lapel Bulldogs, falling 10-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Royals haven't been shut out since back in April.

Eastern Hancock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addisyn Trackwell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Trackwell has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

As for Lapel, their record is now 16-5. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Lapel's side, Addison Bodenhorn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Bodenhorn was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Paige Stires was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Delaney Balser, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Eastern Hancock is taking a road trip to challenge North Decatur at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.14 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lapel, they will welcome Wapahani at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
