Basketball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. Westside Wolverines

Having just played yesterday, the Menendez Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Westside Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Menendez is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They came out on top against Interlachen by a score of 54-45 on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Rams are ranked 269th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westside). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 win over San Jose Prep on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Westside's win came from a few key players Menendez will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kinard Life, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Gary Hyde was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Menendez's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Westside, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
