Eastside is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Knight.
Sayde Morgan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Julia Green was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Quartz Hill got themselves on the board against Littlerock on Tuesday, but Littlerock never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Lobos with a sharp 13-0 victory. Considering the Royals have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nina Sepulveda made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Quartz Hill let Leanna Medina and Katrina Ramirez run wild. Medina scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Ramirez went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Ramirez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Christensen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Quartz Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Quartz Hill and bumps their season record up to 15-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Eastside hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Quartz Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
