Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeshore). They put the hurt on the Franklinton Demons with a sharp 18-3 win on Thursday. Lakeshore hasn't had any issues with Franklinton recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Annabella Litolff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Julia Haddad was incredible, going 4-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Jaycee Ray was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-6.
Lakeshore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win got Lakeshore back to even at 6-6. As for Franklinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
Coming up, Lakeshore will be playing at home against St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Thomas Aquinas has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.18 runs per game on average), something Lakeshore will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Franklinton, they will venture away from home to square off against De La Salle at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
