Football Recap: Owen Sullivan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Cloud over Merritt Island

St. Cloud came into this matchup off a tough 37-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Merritt Island Mustangs by a score of 24-21 on Friday. The Bulldogs gained 105 more yards on the day, but it was the Mustangs that made the best use of them.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Sullivan, who picked up 108 receiving yards and three touchdowns. St. Cloud also got a significant boost from Cameron Dalton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Cloud and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Merritt Island, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, St. Cloud will face off against Lake Nona at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Bulldogs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Merritt Island, they will take on ED White at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Commanders have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
