The Bendle Tigers will head out to take on the Atherton Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bendle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Bendle took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Morrice, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers never let the Orioles get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Tigers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Landon Mattis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atherton). Everything went their way against Flint Southwestern Academy on Monday as they made off with a 27-9 win. Considering the Wolverines have won three matches by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Atherton now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bendle, their record is now 4-1.

Bendle took their victory against Atherton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
