Softball Recap: Goshen Find Success

The Goshen Warriors earned a 9-5 victory over the Carlisle Indians on Tuesday.

Skye Shaw was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Purdy, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makayla Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Goshen's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Carlisle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Goshen will have a chance to go back-to-back against Carlisle: the pair will be back at it again later today.
