Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawson). They took down the Excelsior Springs Tigers 76-62 on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but the Cardinals were the better team in the second half.

Lawson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Willoughby led the charge by going 8 for 17 en route to 23 points and eight rebounds. Andrew Phipps was another key player, putting up 20 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Lawson's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Excelsior Springs, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Lawson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-44 defeat against Penney on the 17th. Excelsior Springs has also already played their next match (against Raytown South), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
