Soccer Game Preview: Monte Vista vs. Valhalla

The Monte Vista Monarchs will face off against the Valhalla Norsemen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monte Vista's last six matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Monte Vista is headed into the game having not lost since December 16 and will look to keep things rolling. They won by a goal and slipped past Mt. Carmel 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Monarchs were the better team in the second half.

Bill Isaho and Luciano Hermosillo scored both of Monte Vista's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valhalla). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Grossmont 3-2.

The win got Monte Vista back to even at 5-5-4. As for Valhalla, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-9-3.

Monte Vista beat Valhalla 3-1 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Does Monte Vista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valhalla turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
