Baseball Game Preview: Centereach Cougars vs. West Babylon Eagles

For the second straight game, Centereach will face off against West Babylon. The Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Centereach has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while West Babylon will arrive with four straight wins.

Centereach came up short against West Babylon on Wednesday, falling 7-1.

For West Babylon's part, Anthony Gerbasio made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Gerbasio was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Elijah Outlaw was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Steve Gervasi was another key player, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 1-for-3.

West Babylon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

West Babylon pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Centereach, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
