Softball Recap: Kennett Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

With a playoff win on the line, Kennett rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Clearwater Fightin' Tigers 6-4. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Fightin' Tigers back in April, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Handley McAtee made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Lynnley Patterson and Emma Tinnin did most of the damage at the plate: Patterson went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Tinnin went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Patterson has posted since back in April. Avery Payne was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Kennett is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 28-8 record this season. As for Clearwater, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 30-4.

As of now, neither Kennett nor the Fightin' Tigers have any future games scheduled.
