Basketball Game Preview: Lathrop Spartans vs. Central Valley Hawks

The Lathrop Spartans will head out to take on the Central Valley Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lathrop is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Lathrop was able to grind out a solid victory over McNair, taking the game 59-47. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Lathrop's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Perkins, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The game was Perkins' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Caiden Wisnieski, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Central Valley beat Johansen 64-56 on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 834th, while the Vikings are ranked 364th).

Lathrop pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Central Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.

Lathrop beat Central Valley 87-77 in their previous matchup back in November of 2018. Does Lathrop have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
