Basketball Recap: Monroe Central Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wheeling Central Catholic, Monroe Central was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They secured a 50-45 W over the Caldwell Redskins. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 50-33 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Caldwell lost, don't look at Breighlee Moracco. Despite the final result, she posted ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Those seven boards gave Moracco a new career-high. Lexi Franklin was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to seven assists and three blocks.

Monroe Central's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Caldwell, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Monroe Central and Caldwell could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Monroe Central will square off against Wheeling Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday down 141 places (172 vs. 31). Meanwhile, Caldwell (ranked 586th) will meet Shenandoah (ranked 229th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
