Recap: First Assembly Christian Crusaders vs. St. George's Gryphons
The First Assembly Christian Crusaders had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They strolled past St. George with points to spare, taking the game 56-38. Given First Assembly Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while St. George's is ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. George's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amir Wilson, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Silas Jones, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
First Assembly Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for St. George's, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9.
First Assembly Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lausanne Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for St. George's, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Evangelical Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Evangelical Christian has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
