Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Find Success

Pine Crest lost to Coral Springs Charter back in April of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Pine Crest walked away with a 7-3 victory over Coral Springs Charter.

Jonathan Lazar looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Paul Baker was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Bennett Hughes, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Pine Crest's win bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for Coral Springs Charter, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Pine Crest and Coral Springs Charter should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Pine Crest will take on Palmer Trinity at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 124 places (77 vs. 201). Meanwhile, Coral Springs Charter (ranked 138th) will meet Piper (ranked 282nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
