Football Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Hickory Grove Christian had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-1 to make it five. They came out on top against the Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors by a score of 37-28. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mighty Warriors, too.

Among those leading the charge was Jaxson Lee, who threw for 189 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

As for Mount Zion Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3. Even though they lost, their still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 26 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

When it comes to explaining why Mount Zion Christian Academy lost, don't look at Sherrad Bennard III. Despite the final result, he threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 67 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Looking ahead, Hickory Grove Christian is taking a road trip to face off against SouthLake Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mount Zion Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 54-0 victory against North Wake S on the 16th.
