Baseball Game Preview: Nicholas County Bluejackets vs. Paris Greyhounds

The Nicholas County Bluejackets will head out to face off against the Paris Greyhounds at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Nicholas County has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 26.

Nicholas County came up short against Campbell County on Tuesday, falling 13-2.

Jayden Robinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Paris hadn't done well against Montgomery County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Greyhounds came out on top against the Indians by a score of 5-2. While the Greyhounds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Shayne Bowling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Colson Curtis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mays, who scored a run and stole a base.

Paris has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Nicholas County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Nicholas County beat Paris 6-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluejackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
