Basketball Recap: Duval Charter Comes Up Short

After flying high against Covenant School of Jacksonville last Saturday, Duval Charter came back down to earth. The Duval Charter Panthers had to suffer through a 89-55 loss at the hands of the St. Johns Country Day Spartans. The Panthers lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in February of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 2-0 score last time.

St. Johns Country Day's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camden Cooper, who went 8 of 18 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. Cooper's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Elliot Graham was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

With the loss, Duval Charter broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-11. As for St. Johns Country Day, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duval Charter won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against River City Science Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Duval Charter is facing River City Science Academy at the right time seeing as River City Science Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. Johns Country Day, they will face off against Beachside at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
