Softball Recap: Pamlico County Takes a Loss

Pamlico County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Washington on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Washington Pam Pack by a score of 5-4. The match marked the Hurricanes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Avery Cain spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Pamlico County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Robinson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Pamlico County now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Washington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Coming up, Pamlico County will welcome Richlands at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Richlands' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Pamlico County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Washington, they are taking a road trip to take on D.H. Conley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
